MAITE RUIZ DE AUSTRI
Maite Ruiz de Austri is member of the Spanish Academy of Arts and Cinematographic Sciences and has won two Goya awards for best feature films with her films “El regreso del viento Norte” and “¡Qué vecinos tan aimales!”. She started her career as a scriptwriter and director of cultural and educative programs for institutions and since then has directed features films, short films, videoclips, documentaries and has participated in several well-known international festivals.
At the end of the 80s she wrote and directed “Comic, 9th art”, a TV series documentary with which she won several awards including best art program in Stockholm and was finalist in festivals of New York and Houston. After directing “Great masters of comic”, a monographic documentary of 13 authors about their life and work, she started her career as animated feature film director with “La leyenda del viento norte”, “El regreso del viento norte” and “¡Qué vecinos tan animales” (both winners of the Goya award for best animated films), “La leyenda del unicornio” and “Animal Channel”. Maite has won several prizes and awards in festivals of Houston, Salamanca, New York, Lima or Cartagena. Her films have been translated and dubbed to a numeruous of languages.

We are happy to present the TV movies based on the well-known TV series by BRB Internacional: “David, el Gnomo”, “La vuelta al mundo de Willy Fog”, “D’Artacan y los tres mosqueperros” and “Ruy, el pequeño Cid”. This year it is the 25th anniversary of the most famous of the gnomes: in 1985, David the wise Gnome would entertain the after-lunch of every Spanish home, whose members would gather around the only television set in the hous tuning in the so called “Primera Cadena” (“First Channel”).
